  Amerikanische Utopia

  Das fotografische Auge des katalanischen Künstlers Jordi Bernadó (Barcelona, 1966) enthüllt ungeahnt erbärmliche Landschaften des ländlichen und (sub-) urbanen Amerikas.  Eden, Illinois; Baghdad, Pennsylvania; Utopia, Texas
 das sind Städte, paradox getauft, verloren und vergessen in der weiten Trostlosigkeit der USA von heute: Geisterstädte, Ödnis und soziale Gegensätze als handfeste Metaphern des Niedergangs des Amerikanischen Traumes. 

  Welcome Utopia (2002) ist das erste Kapitel des photographischen Romans „True Loving and other tales“. Ein work-in-progress, in dem der Künstler eine anthropologische Reise durch die moderne Geschichte Amerikas antritt, um seine Mythen zu hinterfragen.

  JORDI BERNADÓ. WELCOME UTOPIA ist ein gemeinschaftliches Experiment von FILTER (Hamburg) und ESPAI 2NOU2 (Barcelona), initiiert von Jocelyn Adele González Junco.

  American Utopia

  The photographic eye of Catalonian artist Jordi Bernadó (Barcelona, 1966) reveals unimagined sordid landscapes of rural and (sub-) urban America. Eden, Illinois; Baghdad, Pennsylvania, Utopia, Texas
 these are villages paradoxically baptized, lost and forgotten in the vast desolation of today’s USA: ghost towns, barrenness and social contradictions as tangible metaphor of the demise of the American Dream.

  Welcome Utopia (2002) is the first chapter of the photographic novel “True Loving and other tales”; a work-in-progress, in which the artist embarks an anthropological journey through the modern history of America to unravel its myths.

  JORDI BERNADÓ. WELCOME UTOPIA emerges as collaborative experiment between FILTER (Hamburg) and ESPAI 2NOU2 (Barcelona), initiated by Jocelyn Adele González Junco.
