Fuer die Ausstellungsreihe When Doing Things and Words hat die Halle
fuer Kunst Lueneburg Falke Pisano (NL), Karolin Meunier (D / NL) und
Lone Haugaard Madsen (A / DK) eingeladen. In drei aufeinander
folgenden Einzelausstellungen werden sie jeweils einen
korrespondierenden Raum eroeffnen, in dem ueber die Verschraenkung
von performativen Inszenierungen und Installationen grundlegende
Fragen der Uebersetzbarkeit und Sichtbarkeit neu verhandelt werden.
Ausgehend von sprachtheoretischen Avancen der Kunst des 20.
Jahrhunderts stehen dabei folgende Fragen im Vordergrund: Was
ereignet sich heute in der Begegnung von Sprache und Objekten? Welche
Transformation erfahren die Arbeiten durch die verschiedenen Modi der
Exposition, Produktion und Dokumentation? Welche Rolle spielt die
Partizipation des Betrachters in der gegenwaertigen kuenstlerischen
Produktion? Dadurch soll eine Aufmerksamkeit fuer die Situativitaet
kuenstlerischer Arbeiten geschaffen werden, als sie innerhalb der
Ausstellung in unterschiedlichen kommunikativen Formen auftreten. Die
Kuenstlerinnen weisen das Ausstellen selbst als eine produktive
Praxis aus, in der sie, die Objekte und die Besucher in ein
sprechendes, verschiedene Zeitlichkeiten durchlaufendes Verhaeltnis
treten.
Halle fuer Kunst freut sich mit dem ersten Teil der Ausstellungsreihe
die niederlaendische Kuenstlerin Falke Pisano vorzustellen. Falke
Pisano benutzt Sprache und Schreiben als Mittel, um die Potentiale
von Abstraktion, Skulptur und kuenstlerischer Praxis zu hinterfragen.
Sprechend aktiviert sie abstrakte Objekte zu Gedanken generierenden
Prinzipien. Ausgehend von der Idee eines instabilen, wandelbaren und
zerbroeckelnden Objekts wirft sie Fragen zu den qualitativen
Eigenschaften, zu Form, Konstruktion und Dialogizitaet von Objekten
auf. In der Halle fuer Kunst werden u. a. ihre 2007 entstandenen
Arbeiten Object and Disintegration (on the form of encounter) und The
Complex Object (Affecting Abstraction part 3) zu sehen sein, wobei
letztere von der Kuenstlerin am Eroeffnungsabend um 20 h als
‚performative Lecture’ praesentiert wird.

Biografie
Falke Pisano wurde 1978 in Amsterdam geboren, wo sie lebt und
arbeitet. Sie studierte an der Kunsthochschule Utrecht und war im
Anschluss als Fellow Researcher an der Jan van Eyck Akademie,
Maastricht taetig. 2006 stellte sie im Rahmen von Just in Time aus,
der Municipal Acquisitions Exhibition am Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam.
Neben Einzelausstellungen bei Ellen de Bruijne Projects, Amsterdam
(2007) sowie in der Galerie Balice Hertling, Paris (2008) war sie
kuerzlich im Nachtprogramm der diesjaehrigen Berlin Biennale
vertreten. Im Juli 2008 werden ihre Arbeiten auf der Manifesta 7 in
Trentino zu sehen sein.

For the exhibition series When Doing Things and Words the three young
artists Falke Pisano (NL), Karolin Meunier (D / NL) and Lone Haugaard
Madsen (A / DK) are invited to the Halle fuer Kunst Lueneburg. In
three successive solo exhibitions each one of them will open a
corresponding space, in which the entanglement of performative
stagings and spatial installations constructs a situation in which
elementary questions of translatability and visibility will be
negotiated. Regarding convergences and fusions of language theory and
art during the 20th century the following questions will be focused:
What processes are currently activated in the encounter of language
and objects? Which kind of transformations will the work undergo
through different modes of exposition, production and documentation?
What is the role of the participating spectator in contemporary
artistic production? The series draws attention to the ways in which
the art works are situated, in which they occur in the exhibition, in
different communicative forms as well as in relation to how the
artists themselves stage exhibiting as a productive praxis in and of
itself. They, the objects as well as the visitors, step into a
communicative relationship which is influenced through a whole set of
temporalities.
Halle fuer Kunst is delighted to open this exhibition series with a
solo show by the dutch artist Falke Pisano. Falke Pisano uses
language and writing as a means to rethink the potential of
abstraction, sculpture and artistic practice. She activates abstract
objects into thought-generating principles by speeking and employs
the idea of the unstable, transforming, and disintegrating object as
a way to address issues concerning object qualities, form,
construction, and engagement. Among the works shown in the Halle fuer
Kunst will be Object and Disintegration (on the form of encounter)
and The Complex Object (Affecting Abstraction part 3) from 2007, the
latter of which will be presented as part of a performative lecture
given during the opening night of the show.

Biography
Falke Pisano was born 1978 in Amsterdam where she still lives and
works. After her studies at the Artschool Utrecht she was a fellow
researcher at the Jan van Eyck Academy, Maastricht. 2006 she took
part in Just in Time, the municipal acquisitions exhibition of the
Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam. Besides her solo shows at Ellen de
Bruijne Projects, Amsterdam (2007) and Galerie Balice Hertling, Paris
(2008) she took part in the night program of the Berlin Biennial
(2008). In July 2008 her works will be presented at the Manifesta 7
in Trentino.
