Fuer die Ausstellungsreihe When Doing Things and Words
hat die Halle fuer Kunst Lueneburg Falke Pisano (NL),
Karolin Meunier (D / NL) und Lone Haugaard Madsen (A /
DK) eingeladen. In drei aufeinander folgenden
Einzelausstellungen werden sie jeweils einen
korrespondierenden Raum eroeffnen, in dem ueber die
Verschraenkung von performativen Inszenierungen und
Installationen grundlegende Fragen der
Uebersetzbarkeit und Sichtbarkeit neu verhandelt
werden. Ausgehend von sprachtheoretischen Avancen der
Kunst des 20. Jahrhunderts stehen dabei folgende
Fragen im Vordergrund: Was ereignet sich heute in der
Begegnung von Sprache und Objekten? Welche
Transformation erfahren die Arbeiten durch die
verschiedenen Modi der Exposition, Produktion und
Dokumentation? Welche Rolle spielt die Partizipation
des Betrachters in der gegenwaertigen kuenstlerischen
Produktion? Dadurch soll eine Aufmerksamkeit fuer die
Situativitaet kuenstlerischer Arbeiten geschaffen
werden, als sie innerhalb der Ausstellung in
unterschiedlichen kommunikativen Formen auftreten. Die
Kuenstlerinnen weisen das Ausstellen selbst als eine
produktive Praxis aus, in der sie, die Objekte und die
Besucher in ein sprechendes, verschiedene
Zeitlichkeiten durchlaufendes Verhaeltnis treten.

Halle fuer Kunst freut sich mit dem zweiten Teil der
Ausstellungsreihe die in Berlin und Maastricht lebende
Künstlerin Karolin Meunier vorzustellen. Die
Performances, Videos und Rauminstallationen von
Karolin Meunier kreisen um Fragen zur Aktualität des
Performativen und zur medialisierten
Kommunikationssituation zwischen Betrachter und
Künstler. Die Kamera fungiert dabei als Instrument, um
das Verhältnis von Öffentlichkeit und Theatralität zu
markieren und Denken als sukzessiven Prozess sichtbar
zu machen. In der Halle für Kunst stellen die
filmischen Inszenierungen einen Bezug zu ihrem
spezifischen Aufführungsort und dessen räumlichen
Bedingungen her, der sich sowohl innerhalb der
Videobilder selbst als auch durch deren Installation
zeigt.

Am Eröffnungsabend gibt es im Anschluss an die
Performance von Karolin Meunier ab 21.30 h musical
procedures von Christian Naujoks & Anna Möller.

Biografie
Die 1975 in Bonn geborene Karolin Meunier studierte an
der Hochschule für bildende Künste, Hamburg. Sie lebt
und arbeitet in Berlin und ist Fellow Researcher an
der Jan van Eyck Akademie in Maastricht. Derzeit sind
ihre Arbeiten in der Ausstellung Soziale Diagramme im
Künstlerhaus Stuttgart zu sehen und in Filmprogrammen
des MUMOK in Wien und der Kunsthalle Basel.

For the exhibition series When Doing Things and Words
the three young artists Falke Pisano (NL), Karolin
Meunier (D / NL) and Lone Haugaard Madsen (A / DK) are
invited to the Halle fuer Kunst Lueneburg. In three
successive solo exhibitions each one of them will open
a corresponding space, in which the entanglement of
performative stagings and spatial installations
constructs a situation in which elementary questions
of translatability and visibility will be negotiated.
Regarding convergences and fusions of language theory
and art during the 20th century the following
questions will be focused: What processes are
currently activated in the encounter of language and
objects? Which kind of transformations will the work
undergo through different modes of exposition,
production and documentation? What is the role of the
participating spectator in contemporary artistic
production? The series draws attention to the ways in
which the art works are situated, in which they occur
in the exhibition, in different communicative forms as
well as in relation to how the artists themselves
stage exhibiting as a productive praxis in and of
itself. They, the objects as well as the visitors,
step into a communicative relationship which is
influenced through a whole set of temporalities.

Halle fuer Kunst is delighted to open the second part
of the exhibition series with a solo show by Karolin
Meunier. The performances, videos and installations by
Karolin Meunier reflect on the actuality of the
performative as well as on the mediated communication
processes between recipient and artist. She uses the
camera as an instrument to mark the relationship
between the public sphere and theatricality and to
furthermore visualize reflexion itself as a successive
process. At the Halle für Kunst the filmic and
installative presentation establish a site-specific
relationship to the particular place of the act –
through the serial frames of the videos themselves as
well as through the ways in which they are staged.

After the performance of Karolin Meunier at the
opening evening Christian Naujoks & Anna Möller will
start their musical procedures at 21.30 h.

Biography

Born 1975 in Bonn Karolin Meunier lives in Berlin and
Maastricht. Since terminating her studies at the
Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg she is a fellow
researcher at the Jan van Eyck Academy, Maastricht. At
the moment works of Karolin Meunier can be seen in the
show Soziale Diagramme in the Künstlerhaus Stuttgart
as well as in screening programs of the MUMOK, Vienna
and the Kunsthalle Basel.
